About our Business Consulting practice

A small, experienced team that works with owner-managed companies across England to solve real operational and strategic problems.

How we got here

Navigate Biz Consulting started in 2017 when our founder, Daniel Reeves, left a twelve-year career running a regional distribution company. He had spent the previous two years hiring consultants for his own business and found most of them expensive, slow and disconnected from day-to-day reality. Reports arrived late, recommendations were generic, and follow-up was non-existent.

He decided to build the consultancy he wished he had hired. The idea was simple: keep the team small, work only with businesses where we can make a measurable difference, and charge fixed fees so clients always know the cost before they commit.

We started with three clients in the first year. Two were distribution firms Daniel knew through his network. The third was a small chain of veterinary practices whose owner had heard about us from a mutual contact. That first year taught us that the problems businesses face are remarkably similar regardless of sector: unclear priorities, weak financial visibility, and founders who cannot step away from daily operations without everything stalling.

By 2020 we had completed over 60 projects. Today the team has grown to five consultants, each with direct experience of running or managing a business. We still take on no more than eight active engagements at a time because we believe quality depends on focus.

What we believe

Our mission is to help owner-managed businesses in England grow profitably without burning out the people who run them. We are not interested in growth for its own sake. We care about sustainable improvement: higher margins, better-trained teams, clearer processes and founders who can take a week off without their phone ringing constantly.

Specificity over generality

We do not produce reports full of abstract frameworks. Every recommendation includes who does what, by when, and how to measure whether it worked. If we cannot make it that concrete, we tell you we are not the right fit.

Transparency on fees

We quote a fixed fee before work begins. If the scope changes mid-project, we discuss the cost adjustment before proceeding. No timesheets. No hourly billing surprises.

Follow-through

Every engagement includes a 90-day follow-up at no additional cost. We want to know whether the changes stuck, and if they did not, we want to understand what got in the way. A plan that sits in a drawer is worthless.

Honest assessment

We turn down about one in four enquiries because we do not think we can help enough to justify the fee. Saying no to work that is not a good fit is how we maintain a 89% client retention rate.

The team

Everyone on our team has managed a P&L, hired and fired staff, and dealt with the kind of problems that do not fit neatly into a textbook chapter. That shared background shapes how we work with clients.
